Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Market (Crawford Market) restoration work with Safintra Roofing Sheets

Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Market (Crawford Market) is one of the oldest and most popular markets of Mumbai. Restoration is being carried out by the Municipal Corporation of Great Mumbai (MCGM) and conservation architect appointed by the BMC, Abha Narain Lambah. The restoration of the first phase of this historic market is scheduled to be completed in 2017.

Temporary Shifting of existing shops till completion of restoration work has been the biggest challenge in this restoration work.  Fabricated shops with curved roof are designed to be created for existing shops for aesthetic appeal. Repainted Galvalume material is being used for long life and fire brick colour was selected to complement Mangalore tiles for heritage Look. Customised long length sheets are being used to minimise lapping and hence ensuring water tightness.

This project will be done phase wise.

Roofing Material used: Safintra Pre Painted Galvalume, AZ150, 0.50mmTCT, Fire Brick.

Profile: Safintra Trimflute.

Special Features: Pre Painted Galvalume material was approved for the restoration of the iconic 147 year old Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Market (Crawford Market) for longevity. The main roof was designed to be straight to maintain the existing design and internal shops are designed to have curved roof.

Our Sheets have already been installed at the iconic Clock tower in the initial phase of restoration.
